Long Slow Distance

A training technique consisting of exercise of necessarily low intensity, and a cyclic nature such as long distance walking, swimming, jogging, etc..

Using LSD is effective when an exerciser is unable or unwilling to train at higher intensities for perhaps medical or personal reasons. For instance, slower and lengthy treadmill walking is useful for pregnant women who want to keep their bodies as lean as possible yet must not overly elevate their body temperature. Many bodybuilders also employ LSD treadmill walking in their efforts to burn (nearly) exclusively bodyfat without sacrificing their hard-earned muscle tissue.
