I recommend training with Christopher Drozd to anyone. Not only is he a great guy with a cool personal style, but when I think of people who have made an impact on me in recent years, he tops the list because of what he taught me about movement and fitness.
I went to Christopher after many miles— years!— of running in the military and high school and college wrestling. Then it was always a brutal slog running through pain and doubt to keep up with my friends and make the finish line. What Christopher taught me about running was the opposite of what all those coaches had been saying, opposite the conventional wisdom too, but it made all the difference. I am convinced that what he showed me is the true way we are meant to run. Christopher showed me how and now running has become a part of me, and my lifestyle. Running is again joyous and free, like it was as a kid. He also taught me self-hypnosis, Yin yoga (relaxing!) and much more.
So if you’re looking for a fitness coach I say, ‘Go with Christopher.’ I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! (Check out his book too.)

“Some fifteen years ago I had the wonderful luck to meet Christopher Drozd. I started working-out with him lifting weights and developing an overall program to improve my health. In all of the years I’ve known him, he has helped me push myself to boundaries beyond what I ever thought I could accomplish. I have finished two marathons, trained while pregnant, and competed in a sprint triathlon with cameras filming my every move (part of a Discovery Health channel special).
I worked with other trainers before Christopher but what makes him unique is his approach to fitness. He is a living example of what he teaches, focusing on making intelligent decisions about an overall healthy lifestyle, with no extremes, no deprivation, no routines that will hurt your body. As a woman, I like his approach about eating like my life depends on it, rather than eating to be skinny or achieve some glorified marketing image from a fashion magazine. I’ve learned to make decisions that will impact my well-being into the late stages of my life, rather than focusing on “looking” a certain way. Although looking healthy is pretty nice too.
There are two main components that I’ve learned from Christopher which have changed my life. The first is to keep exercise fun and to be consistent about being active forever. In my case, running is what I enjoy best and Christopher has trained me throughout the years, always focusing on a race or goal – rather than just “running miles”. This has helped me achieve things that I would otherwise never do on my own. The second component is convincing me that food selection in my choice. No one else can make the choice for you – it is up to each of us to make the decision of eating well or eating crap. It’s also not an all or nothing decision. Every meal, I have the opportunity to make this choice. If I make an unhealthy selection, than I have an opportunity to make a different choice my next meal. Christopher has a simple approach that anyone can follow. Fill ½ your plate with vegetables or watery fruit, ¼ with lean protein and ¼ with whole grains. Don’t eat out of a box, read ingredients, and eat organic whenever possible. In all of the years I’ve known Christopher, I’ve admired his consistency about this simple approach and try to follow it in my own eating plan, as well as that of my family.
Lastly and maybe most importantly, Christopher is a true professional that cares about his impact on people’s lives. He keeps abreast of new findings, does research about everything to do with fitness, and shares that knowledge with those around him. He is passionate about making a difference, and improving the lifestyle of his friends. His friendship is extremely valuable to me not only because of his impact in the health of my life but because of his generosity with sharing his knowledge – even when we are not training together for a race, I feel like Christopher is my fitness angel – always on my shoulder reminding me: when in doubt, just snap your fingers and tell yourself ‘I’m alright!’. And, it works.”

Six months ago, before I started training with Christopher, I had serious pain in my hip after running— and it was getting worse. I was ready to give up. We started to work together and he showed me how I was running wrong and helped me to fix it. Today I run with out pain! I just ran the Los Angeles Marathon (my first), and now Christopher is helping me to run faster. I never had before, but today I can call myself an athlete— thanks to Christopher!

Simply put, Christopher is one of the most incisive critical thinkers I’ve come across. He masterfully integrates what he knows with what he teaches. His wisdom about the human body and psyche runs deep. Those fortunate enough to work with him will get more out of their coaching than they can imagine at the outset. I have never encountered fitness coaches as committed to their craft as Chris, and none that offer what he does. I recommend him hands down.
